This months AARP magazine, had this article on fraudulent phone calls and emails. I have received numerous phone calls throughout the past 5 years from people(usually seniors) stating they have been scammed.
Protect yourself from fraud. Remember the following:
- Never give out bank infomation
- Never give out personal information, including Social Security Numbers.
- Ask valid questions.
- Never send money to a relative without verifying the information through another family member
It is terrible that we have criminals that prey on seniors, but it continues to happen way too often. Be prepared for those calls and emails.
