Florida’s Private Investigators – Paronoid Client
We as Private Investigators get some entertaining telephone calls and emails. The one I’m going to write about today involves a 60 year old man(aka “Harold”) from West Palm Beach, Florida. Harold first contacted us via email through our ISGwebsite. His email contained cryptic information about a alleged scheme of “stalking and harassment” by Harold’s neighbors.
After a brief telephone call with Harold, a meeting was set up. It was a brief conversation because he believed that his phone was “tapped.” Harold wanted to meet a a Starbucks approximately 40 miles from his home. As I watched him approach my location at Starbucks, I could see he was looking all over. We sat in the back of the coffee shop and as people walked by, he would say “he watching me” or “she is listening to us.”
Unbeknownst to Harold, I had one of our Investigators conducting countersurveillance in the parking area. This Investigator approached us and joined in on the meeting. We told Harold that he was not followed and to try and relax. His story involved:
- Neighbors pointing their home surveillance cameras at his house
- Cars driving by his house and stopping in front and staring at him
- Harold hearing noises from within his home
- Being followed to other cities(Fort Lauderdale, Miami)
We put Harold to ease and researched all his information. Our investigation into the allegations were as follows:
- His vehicle was checked for GPS and recording devices – None located
- Home was swept for “bugs” – None located
- Canvassed the area for surveillance cameras on neighbors houses – None pointed at his home
- Conducted limited background investigations on Harold’s neighbors – Nothing negative located
- Casually spoke to neighbors and each stated that Harold “yells at everyone” and is “weird”
- Contacted local law enforcement and it was revealed Harold has called them numerous times and allegations were always unfounded.
After we concluded the investigation, Harold still was not satisfied and decided to build a high fence around his home and install surveillance cameras throughout his property. We wished him luck and referred him to counseling. About every 6-7 months, we receive an email from him letting us know that he still has the same issues.
As a Professional Investigator, we gather the facts. Sometimes the client likes it and sometimes not.
